INSIDE OUT

Updated: Jan 26, 2022

In Genesis 1:11, God created plants, and trees. What's interesting about this is the power of the system He put in place that caused perpetual life. It reads, “Then God said, “Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb that yields seed, and the fruit tree that yields fruit according to its kind, whose seed is in itself, on the earth”; and it was so” (NKJV).

God’s design ensured that what He created would reproduce based on what was put in it. We are no different. 1 Peter 1:23 reads, “For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God.” Now that we have been regenerated through His seed, God’s design and expectation is for us to reproduce (make disciples), and bear fruit (produce Godly results on the earth). The awesome thing is that it is based on what He has put in us, not what we can conjure up ourselves.

With this understanding, I want to briefly point out 4 things:
  1. It Is Already In You: Not only has God put giftings and a certain bent in you, He has put His divine nature in you, and He wants to continually fill you with His word and Spirit. When what we are reproducing doesn’t seem to line up with that, we must self-examine. Are we staying close to Him in order to stay full of Him? What else are we filling ourselves with that may be overtaking what He has put in us?

  2. God Has Expectations: In Matthew 11, Jesus cursed the fig tree. Why? Because not only was it the season for the tree to bear fruit, but pointing back to Genesis, Jesus knew that everything it needed to bear fruit was already put in it. Likewise, God expects there to be fruit in our lives to nourish those who He places in our path.

  3. It Will Require Something Of You: You can not get seed from the fruit without opening it up. In order for us to reproduce and bear fruit, there is some part of us that will have to be broken, given or hidden. So, be willing to open up to others or allow God to break what’s not like Him. And when it seems like you are alone or in the dark, know that God may just be strengthening your roots so you can withstand the sunshine.

  4. It’s Generational: The first trees God created are no longer here. But the seeds they dropped into the earth have produced generations of trees after them. Likewise, you have been given the divine power to reproduce in a way that will impact generations long after you are gone. What God has put in you is meant to eternally impact your family lineage, and perpetuate His Kingdom lineage through history… POWERFUL!

So, what has He put in you? Is it bearing fruit and reproducing? Are you allowing what He’s put on the inside to come out?
